Bedazzling Basel, 2017

A profusion of peripatetic (and yes, more purple and less politics) was what bedazzled me at Art Basel Miami this year, my 14th consecutive.  New works by Tokyo-based Tomoo Gokita, LA-based Haas Brothers, Brooklyn-based Jean-Pierre Roy, and Beacon, New York-based twins Doug + Mike Starn, got my blood pumping this year. How was this year different than the norm? More soul and less anger.  The galleries and artists shown pushed the norm to amplified levels.  Artists exerting major moves of creativity and cleverness include my top four above, plus six others: Matthew SleethAyala Serfaty (Maison Gerard), Nina Beier,  Charles BeirkAya Rodriguez-Izumi (SVA) and Urs Fischer (Gagosian).  I consolidated other stand-outs to watch in 2018 by name below.  Study them, reach out to the galleries, and if you would like to discuss individual artists in more detail, message me directly.  Enjoy!

I see great spaces and architectural environments as canvases for great art. My passion is to connect beautiful homes with the works of emerging and established artists - as it is through art that the true essence of space can be fully realized.
